Ttangkkeut Village is a place located at the southernmost tip of Korea. Its name comes from the Korean phrase "ttangkkeut," which means "the end of land." The village’s distinct physical feature adds tremendous historical and cultural value.


Ttangkkeut Village has been a valuable region in Korea throughout history. During the Joseon Dynasty, Ttangkkeut Village was a critical strategic position for warning of Japanese invasions. The museum has unique picture booths and large displays of marine creatures, providing both an educational and fun visit. Among its most notable exhibits are a 25-meter, 3-ton blue whale skeleton and displays of species from mudflats and Antarctica, which provide valuable insights into different marine habitats. A particularly engaging exhibit is the interactive sand zone, where visitors can pile up sand to build their landscapes and observe how ocean life adapts to the terrain. This hands-on event is exceptional for people of all ages, combining fun and learning in a new way.


Many other attractions are offered in Tthangkkeut Village. The Cable Car and observatory provide a magnificent ocean view, allowing tourists to admire the breathtaking landscape from above. Summer festivals in Ttangkkeut Village include sand sculpture exhibits, beach boat expeditions, water tattoos, and mud festivals. These activities create a fascinating and energetic environment, making it a popular summer tourist destination.


Ttangkkeut Village offers a pleasant summer experience with different activities and natural beauty. Foreign visitors can easily reach the town by personal vehicle, bus, or KTX. Traveling by KTX is recommended, as visitors can travel directly from Yongsan, Seoul, to a station near Ttangkkeut village on a single train. Buses and rentals near Ttangkkeut village are very affordable as well.
