In recent years, with increasingly busy schedules and the rise of digital entertainment, there has been a significant decline in the amount of time families spend together. Despite this trend, the importance of family time still stands important, as quality time strengthens bonds, improves well-being, and creates lasting memories. Here are the top five attractions in Seoul for you and your family to enjoy.

Seoul Children’s Grand Park:
A happy child equals a happy life. Seoul Children’s Grand Park is a place where families can enjoy a variety of activities. The park features amusement rides for children and parents to enjoy, a zoo filled with numerous animals, a botanical garden with exotic plants, and the list goes on. As the park provides interactive activities designed to cater to the entertainment of people of all ages, children are given the chance to see animals up close, while parents have the chance to explore nature and enjoy a sense of tranquility — some time away from work and everyday life.
For the ones hoping to visit the park, it is located at 216 Neungdong-ro, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Though entry to the park is free, some attractions within the park may require a fee. Also, you may want to arrive early to avoid the crowds, especially on weekends!

COEX Aquarium:
COEX Aquarium is the largest aquarium in Seoul, providing an immersive underwater experience, home to over 40,000 sea creatures (650 species). You can go on an educational journey with your family, learning about the different animals the aquarium holds. You and your family can also simply enjoy the mesmerizing displays of the aquatic life, indulging in the sense of serenity the experiences provide. Adult tickets cost 28,000 won while children's tickets cost 24,000 won. The aquarium is located in the COEX Mall (513, Yeongdong-aero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul). Something you may want to do is purchase the tickets online to skip the long line and check the schedule for feeding times / special shows before your visit.

Seonyudo Park:
Seonyudo Park is famous for its awe-inspiring views and photo spots. The park offers an escape from the concrete jungle, with plenty of activities to engage in. For example, walking trails, water gardens, and playgrounds can all be enjoyed. Try recreating your old family photos, maybe even take a new one. Frame your cherishable memories with your loved ones and hang them up on your wall. Located at 343, Seonyu-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, the entry is free. I suggest visiting during the late afternoon to catch the breathtaking setting of the sun, or afternoon to avoid the heat.

Noeul Park Camping Site:
Noeul Park offers a unique camping experience in the city where families can appreciate the joys of nature. Bring your tents, biscuits, marshmallows, and some chocolate. One bite of those roasted marshmallows with your family will instantly disconnect you from your daily stress. With Seoul’s skyline as your backdrop, try engaging in some outdoor activities. Teach your children how to set up a tent. You can also bring your binoculars to watch the birds. Camping allows you to spend your well-deserved quality time with your whole family. The camping site is located at 84-3 Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The entry fee varies from around 20,000 won to 30,000 won per night. You may want to book your camping spots in advance — as it tends to be quite popular — and pack some warm clothing as it could get chilly during the night.

Cheonggyecheon:
Cheonggyecheon is an oasis, a restored stream running through Seoul. Though you and your family can go on a simple walk around the stream, sightseeing the natural wildlife that inhabits the waters, you could engage in one notable event being held: “책읽는 맑은냇가" (Clear Stream Reading). This activity encourages families to read together in the peaceful outdoor setting, sitting on beanbags and chairs provided by the community. When was the last time you touched a book or read to your children? Take the chance and build some unforgettable memories. Cheonggyecheon is free of fee and it runs from Cheonggye Plaza to Dongdaemun. For more information about the Clear Stream Reading event, try visiting the website linked here.
All these attractions provide a unique opportunity for families to foster stronger bonds and spend quality time enjoying each others’ company. Whether it’s through these activities, or the simple pleasures of being together, family fun should always be of great importance.
